Serves
1 loaf (10 slices)
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter until fully melted, about 1–2 minutes.
Add the bananas and mash directly into the butter using a fork until mostly smooth.
Stir in the sugar, eggs, and Greek yogurt until combined.
Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir gently until just mixed. Avoid overmixing.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before loosening the edges and transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Melissa's Notes
Very ripe bananas give the best sweetness and moisture. You can swap the chocolate chips for blueberries or leave the loaf plain without add-ins. A sprinkle of chocolate chips on top before baking gives it a bakery-style finish. Greek yogurt keeps the loaf extra soft and moist. This banana bread freezes beautifully once fully cooled.
