Method
Add all the ingredients to a small bowl or jar and stir until evenly combined.
Use immediately or transfer to an airtight jar and store in a cool, dry cupboard for up to six months.
Give the seasoning a quick stir or shake before using.
How to Use It
Use approximately 2 tablespoons of seasoning for every 1 pound (450 g) of chicken, beef, shrimp or vegetables.
Cook the meat or vegetables in a little olive oil, sprinkle with the seasoning and add a small splash of water—about 2 to 3 tablespoons. Toss everything together and continue cooking until evenly coated and flavourful.
Melissa's Notes
This recipe makes approximately four tablespoons, enough to season about 2 pounds of meat or vegetables.
For a milder blend, leave out the cayenne pepper.
Regular paprika can replace smoked paprika, although the flavour will be a little less smoky.
If you prefer to control the salt in your meal, reduce or omit it from the blend and season the finished fajitas to taste.
