Ingredients
Prep
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Generously butter a 9-inch pie plate or quiche dish, making sure to coat the sides well to prevent sticking.
Assemble & Bake
Scatter the diced ham evenly across the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle over ¾ of the cheddar cheese.
In a large bowl or measuring jug, whisk together the eggs, cream, salt and pepper until completely smooth.
Slowly pour the custard mixture over the ham and cheese. Top with the remaining cheddar.
Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until the quiche is lightly golden and just set with a slight wobble in the centre.
Allow the quiche to rest for at least 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Melissa's Notes
Patting the ham dry helps prevent excess moisture in the custard. Freshly grated cheddar melts more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese. This quiche reheats beautifully the next day and makes an easy high-protein breakfast.
