Spicy Chili-Lime Rim
Prepare the Rim
Mix sea salt, chili powder, smoked paprika, and lime zest together on a small flat plate until evenly combined.
Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip into the spice mixture until evenly coated.
Make the Cocktail
Add jalapeño slices to a cocktail shaker and muddle gently — just enough to release the heat oils. Do not over-muddle.
Add tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and agave syrup (if using).
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds.
Strain into your chilled, rimmed glass filled with fresh ice.
Lightly slap a mint sprig between your palms to release its aroma, then place on top as garnish.
Optional: add a fresh jalapeño slice on the rim or a dehydrated lime wheel for an elevated presentation.
Melissa's Notes
This cocktail is designed to evolve as you sip — the first taste is bright lime, followed by smooth tequila warmth, and finishing with a gentle jalapeño heat that lingers just enough to keep you coming back. Use 3 jalapeño slices for mild heat, 5 for a proper kick.
